no weeknotes

I don't think I can do a weeknotes today as I'm on my way back home from a club night out and it has wrecked me. We stayed out until the lights came up. The music was a mixed bag though - for every Charli, Marina, or classic dance tune (Cascada!) there was another Taylor or Katy Perry song. As we walked back into the hotel lobby at 4am, the night receptionist said "Good morning girls" with a bit of a grin - he knew what he was doing.

I was talking to my friend about how her mum has watched Adolescence, which has introduced her to the concept of incels and is now worried her eleven year old grandson will become one. But some students are still out there having fun, letting loose. Maybe the kids are alright.

I have a love hate relationship with Cardiff (and British nightlife in general). It can be such an ugly side of society but I can't really imagine us without it, it's an ingrained part of our national identity. By which I mean binge drinking. I still feel like letting yourself go out and get drunk and do things that you know are unwise and possibly to the detriment of society at large provides those moments of connection, bonding and insane conversation we just don't do otherwise. If you haven't seen your friend pissing in a alley at 3am or crying over a mcdonalds cheeseburger are you really friends?

The next morning was beautiful and we walked past people pressure washing the puke off the streets on the way to brunch. I was so tired I napped on some grass between my train connections back home, which was lovely.
