Bluebottle's blog

weeknotes 12

Everything I did last week: Watched "Escape from New York", came 3rd in the quiz, went to pilates, saw Dahomey and climbed badly, went to see Messiah of Evil on Halloween, felt my social anxiety come back, struggled through my friend's 50th birthday party on Friday, went home early and felt bad about it.

Dahomey is a beautiful film, a magical-realism documentary, where the images and soundtrack are breath-taking. This is intercut with a town hall style section where Beninese students talk about the impact of colonialism and the theft of their culture has had on them.

Messiah of Evil is a campy 70s (zombie?) horror that's also an art movie - the visuals and sets and great, the characters and plot not so much.

I'd like to add captions to images on this blog, and make the quote formatting nice and add some quotes. There are a lot of quotes from the books I was reading last week I'd like to add - on their own page maybe.

I've been thinking recently about how I can't relax - I'm always thinking of what to do next. It calms me to plan my next week out, but then I want to message people and confirm and book stuff - not good when I'm trying to sleep.

I had to get up and sit on the sofa so I didn't disturb my boyfriend last night - too many thoughts and I got too upset. I wish I was better.
