weeknotes 20
Still thinking about this weeknotes format - would be better if I actaully resized and cropped my pictures and put them at the top wouldn't it?
I'm looking forward to
My day off this week basically 😅 Really looking forward to sitting in a cafe with a good book.
Grosse Point Blank has popped up on ITVX streaming so definitely watching that one night this week.
Finally back to rope climbing tomorrow, after a bit of a break because everyone was busy.
Films 🍿🎥✮⋆˙
This week I watched The Brutalist, The Straight Story, Shanghai Blues, Basket Case, Maximum Overdrive, The Shawshank Redemption and Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles, which I wrote about here.
I've been feeling 🫀🩹🥀❤️🩹
- Basically the same as last week - insecure and not very good at being normal about it.
Things I've done ✎ᝰ.📓🗒 ˎˊ˗
Hosted sickos film night - was very pleased with my Basket Case and Maximum Overdrive double bill choice, and I really enjoyed both films. I didn't talk to people much and ended up feeling a bit left out, with people talking about what they did together last weekend while I was at home and stuff.
I got some terrible photos developed some of which might post here later.
Went bouldering twice, still just doing the easy routes to try and build my stamina up.
Went for a walk on Saturday. It was misty, cold and grey. We saw some ducks, found a geocache and I visited this Victorian public loo which was advertising this book for sale Ladies Mile by Victoria Hughes with the endorsement "the book that Bristol libraries refused to stock" - I may have to buy it.
I've been reading 🍵📖
I finished Like Water For Chocolate - not my idea of romance but it's very romantic and I loved the fantasy elements and the fast pace of it. The food descriptions were so good, and despite the pace I mentioned I fell for some of the characters - Tita's sister Gertrudis who runs away to become a revolutionary is a highlight. Her other sister is treated very poorly by the text however, essentially farting herself to death 😅 a very colourful book.
I've been listening to the Kitchen Confidential audiobook on spotify instead of podcasts at the moment, and while I'm not sure the brash crude style has aged that well, Anthony Bordain has so much good will with me for Parts Unknown it remains such a fun listen.

Can't remember how I got to ribo.zone but it's the best kind of personal site, where every page is a new delight.
When I mentioned David Lynch's passing I said I hadn't seen much written about him on bearblog - but recently I saw this thoughtful post on his influence from dustroy troly.

See you next week ~ 👋
