weeknotes #4
Things I've done ✎ᝰ.📓🗒 ˎˊ˗
Attended another meditation class, which I have a post in drafts about.
Met my friend's new baby :)
Pilates and one bouldering session. I feel like I get worse but my new climbing shoes are finally feeling less painful.
Films (and TV) 🍿🎥✮⋆˙
I watched Harakiri, Bulk and The Innocents in cinemas this week. Total cinema ticket expense this week: ~ £23.
The Bulk showing included a Q&A with the director, Ben Wheatly - he was very entertaining and funny. It's always interesting to get an insight into the actual making of films, rather than the watching of them.
I also watched two versions of Daphne du Maurier's Rebecca, having finished the book: The 1940s Hitchcock version and the 2020 version, also directed by Ben Wheatly!
The 2020 version got some pretty bad reviews, and watching I agreed it really didn't capture the book very well and actually made changes which undermined the themes of the book. Listening to the director in the Q&A talk about how he wasn't "happier" making big commercial films vs making indie films, they're just different jobs with different skill sets, made me soften towards the film. But someone should have rethought that script and casting 😅
Finally, I also watched Le Petit Cinema Club's film of the week, I'm Me! (1979), a series of animated shorts made by children in the 70s. Very weird, terrible sound, but delightful.
"You can't live without being happy so you know, some of the time, you have to let the worries get off you for a little while" - I'm Me!
I've been feeling 🫀🩹🥀❤️🩹
😖
I'm looking forward to
Getting a client meeting at work this week out of the way - I've been dreading it!
I've been reading 🍵📖
Still reading Frankenstein, and I started Mrs Palfry at the Claremont as a lighter read for times when I don't have the focus needed for Frankenstein (i.e. on the bus).
Advent Calendar
I bought a discounted Moomin advent calendar and I've started it in February. Each day has a different tea :)

See you next week ~ 👋
