Weeknotes 9
Trying to get this in on time this week. I feel like no one reads these, which kind of bothers me but π€·ββοΈ I've seen a lot of posts on bear blog recently for removing upvote counts so it seems like a general malaise against these kind of popularity metrics.
My main feeling this week is that I want to stay in a cottage in the woods for a month and just read.
On Monday this week I gave blood for the first time. I was nervous - I'm not particularly scared of needles, but the anticipation of pain is scary. I had a very nice nurse who stayed and chatted with me and then I got some crisps and a kitkat π©Έπͺ I'll definitely do it again in future.
On Tuesday I continued my horror film challenge by watching Hereditary with a friend, and then watching The Blair Witch Project before bed.
On Wednesday, my day off, I spend most of the day running around posting parcels. This felt like a punishment for buying Β£256 worth of shoes for that wedding on Saturday then ending up returning all of them and buying a pair of Β£10 shoes from a charity shop.
However, I did make time to see The Outrun which I absolutely loved, and go climbing in the evening, which completely knackered me out. The sequences set on the Scottish islands were so beautiful, and Saoirse Ronan's performance was fantastic.
Message I sent to a friend after the outrun - "Maybe sometimes the answer is a cabin on an island".
On Thursday my boyfriend and I went to see Timestalker, the new Alice Lowe film with a Q&A by her. Unfortunately I didn't like it, although I wanted to, but I still had fun watching it.
I started feeling a bit emotional Thursday and this continued to Friday. I managed to console myself Friday evening, so I'm feeling hopeful.
It was the Big Scream horror film festival in Bristol, so Friday and Saturday evening was consumed by horror films.
- A highlight was Opera, a completely insane Dario Argento film. The dubbing was terrible, but I had an amazing time. I also loved The Shout, a barmy british 70s horror featuring a young Tim Curry attending a cricket match at an insane asylum and hearing a story about a man who can kill people with his shout, and moves in with another man to shag his wife. Incredible!
- Finally, I had a lovely Japanese Breakfast on Saturday mornning.
Until next time x
