What's in my inventory? (Bearblog Carnival)
I've been stressed at work which means outside of things I have to do I've been sitting on the sofa doomscrolling and watching mystery crime shows... I've downloaded one of those shitty match 3 mobile games which is always a clear indicator I'm stressed. I usually just try not to worry about it and trust it's just a phase I need to go through and I'll eventually uninstall it, but it definitely doesn't make me feel good about myself.
This hasn't helped my blogging, but I really wanted to take part in the Bearblog Carnival this month, What's in your inventory? I wanted to do a drawing or a photograph to go with this - I love media that's a lot of things laid out!
One of my favourite examples are the birthday wants and other lists the artist Marian Churchland used to post on their website.
Like these December Wants - look how satisfying!
But I am spending too much time playing games on my phone, so please just take this list of things I carry around:
My phone - and ear buds. So I can listen to music, message people on whatsapp, and browse social media. While out, it's also good for train times, directions, and googling questions "when is this cafe open?"
My diary - I take opportunities while I'm out to update my diary with what I'm doing and thoughts on things I'd done previously. I also use it for shopping lists, to do lists, and writing schedules for my weeks. + a pen - I like the Muji 0.38 pens.
A book. I'm currently reading
Wuthering Heightsseveral books. Most of the books I read are cheap second hand paperbacks, which suits me as I can carry them around and batter them etc.Crosswords - I love doing cryptic crosswords and they're very good to carry around for dull moments. The hard ones can take a while to solve and need to be chewed over and come back too. I'm currently working my way through the first issue of Unch magazine, but I usually just print them out from the Guardian cryptic crosswords pages.
Sundries bag - this mainly contains essentials like tampons, sanitary towels, lip balm, and most important of all, my Rizatriptan migraine tablets. It's rarer now that I'll have an attack when I'm out, but if I do it'll ruin my day.
Wallet. Money, giftcards, cards etc. I was only using my phone for awhile, but I've started using cash again more recently.
Keys, of course. My keys have a Great Northern Hotel tag (which I bought on a trip to Seattle) and a USB stick from my favourite film rental shop, 20th Century Flicks (ostensibly for carrying films around on, although I don't have anything on there at the moment...)
Bike lights - essential in winter.
Water bottle - dehydration is a migraine trigger for me, so I like to have water to hand.
Bag cover - good for protecting my rucksack for rain + being seen at night on the bike.
Camera - it's an old film camera, and I don't always carry it around. In winter especially, when it's too dark and grey during the day to be sure of getting a good picture.
That's it, I think!
