My friend who writes and performs music performed for a events group called green stage last week, who put on gigs in plant shops 🌱🍃🌿 It's a very cute idea and the environment was very pleasant and calming.
I felt pretty headachy and tired, but I had a really good time and felt funny and chatty with the group of friends who attended - we laughed a lot on the way home.
I always appreciate my friend's performances - I'm not often a girl who looks for lyrics in her music, but something about knowing the person who writes the songs - and the way she explains and related the lyrics to her own life really making me appreciate the feelings she evokes and the meaning behind the songs.
She performed several new songs which I loved and made me excited for her EP to come out next year. I wish I could remember the lyrics - with the plants in the background and the watercolour classes I've been taking, I felt very inspired to do some designing or drawing...
(You can find her songs on bandcamp here if you're interested - she performs acoustic folk inspired music mainly. Please check it out!)
Speaking of lyrics, on Hannah's haunted woods playlist I rediscovered Richard Dawson's song Weaver. I found this whole album surprisingly raw and touching when I first listened to it, and particularly the end
Even though the new born child
Is not my kin
And still lies dangling by a string
I ken the rising mystery of love
My very ancient friend
As one of the comments on youtube says "That choir at the end gets me everytime".
It's getting dark in the evenings here now - I went to the gig after getting back from a work meeting in another city. Here's the sky by the bike racks after I got off the train.
